Today we went with some friends to see Seussical the Musical with the kids. It was a really neat show. They took a couple of Horton stories and combined them with a Cat in a Hat narrator and a few other side stories pulled from Theodore Geisel's children's books and set it all to music. It worked well because the books are already very lyrical.
This was also the first time that we got to see a show in the recently refurbished Valentine Theater which features this gorgeous chandelier. After the show the cast was standing in the lobby signing autographs, but the kids were too shy to approach them. We bought a couple of the kids favorite songs from iTunes tonight and we've been singing along with the chorus. Our favorite is little Aaron singing "A person's a person, no matter how small." - showing me a level of meaning from Ted's writing that I never really got before. We'll try to get it on video and post it here.
